How to open a new request

How to upload the files? Is there any limit of files?

After you will create a request you will have a option to upload files (you will also get a Confirmation Email with link to upload files). There is a limit of 500 MB for one file, however you can upload multiple files. In case of any technical issues with file upload please contact fmc.support@thomsonreuters.com.

How to download the files when they are done?

After you will be notified by a FMC agent that your files are done you can download them from the https://fmc.thomsonreuters.com/checkstatus page. Plese enter the correct Request ID and email and follow these instructions. In case of any technical issues with file download please contact fmc.support@thomsonreuters.com.

How secure it is to send you my data/ files?

FMC is using SSL Certificate and every action between portal and the user is encrypted and is known only to those two sides

How secure is the storage of my files?

All files are encrypted at rest and are stored in Thomson Reuters Data Centers which have very high security protocols

How quickly will I get the deadline for my project?

After receiving the files to newly logged request on the FMC portal, FMC team estimates the timeline for project completion. Estimating the deadline depends on the complexity and volume and may take from 2 up to 24 hours.

Will I have a project coordinator?

Yes, after analyzing the files you will receive an initial response from your dedicated project coordinator who will be responsible for completion of your project.

What if I do not know what “product from/ product to” fields are in the questionnaire?

Please provide as much details as you can regarding the project but feel free to leave the blank fields if you are unsure of the choice. Project coordinator will contact you to precise all the details.

How do I track the progress of my project?

You can check the status of your request at any time here: https://fmc.thomsonreuters.com/checkstatus by providing your email and request number

How do I upload additional files?

Please follow the link sent to you in the confirmation email after submitting the request or find you request in: https://fmc.thomsonreuters.com/checkstatus, and choose “Upload additional files”

How will I receive my files back?

You will be notified by your project Coordinator that your files are ready to download from https://fmc.thomsonreuters.com/checkstatus.

Do you perform any quality checks so I can be sure that there are not mistakes in the final projects?

Yes, we perform standard quality checks in order to assure the correctness of the data we deliver.

What type of migrations you can serve?

  • Upgrades: Off site conversions to Eikon from ex-Investors products: Reuters Knowledge, Thomson One for Analytics, Thomson One for Investment Analyst, Starmine, EcoWin, T1.com, Lipper, and Datastream

Datastream FAQ


How do I upload converted charts to my Datastream account?

You can upload converted charts by using Datastream Charting Add-In in your Microsoft Office file (you can download it from Customer Zone website). Please follow the steps described in this PDF document.

Where can I find my Datastream login details?

You may ask us to upload your converted charts directly to your Datastream account – however, in order to do this, we need to have your ID and password. The easiest way is to ask your Thomson Reuters Account Manager to provide it for you. You should also receive them on the first day of using your new product – please ask your IT department or whoever installed the Datastream on your computer. For Datastream Advance, we need your ID and password from Tools > Configure Communications.

How do I get Datastream in Excel?

If you are entitled to use Datastream and Datastream Charting, all you need to do is enable the apps in Excel.

  1. In Excel, sign in to Thomson Reuters, and then click Options > Apps.
  2. Click Enable next to Datastream and Datastream Charting to install the apps. If the apps are not listed here, contact your Thomson Reuters representative for entitlements.
  3. After the Enable button display Restart Required, click OK.
  4. Close all instances of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  5. Restart your Excel workbook.

How do I install the Microsoft Excel/Office add-in?

The Office add-in is automatically installed along with Thomson Reuters Eikon.

  1. Open an Excel workbook. In the ribbon, you see a tab called Thomson Reuters.
  2. Click Thomson Reuters and then sign in using your Thomson Reuters Eikon credentials.
  3. Start using Thomson Reuters Eikon - Microsoft Office.

The Thomson Reuters tab is missing; how do I get it?

The Office add-in is automatically installed and loaded along with Thomson Reuters Eikon, and normally, you do not need to do anything to get the Thomson Reuters tab in Excel. However, if the tab is missing in Excel, you can: enable the add-in if it is disabled load the add-in manually if for some reason it did not load automatically, or if it was unloaded.

To enable the add-in

  1. In Excel, click excel button and choose Excel Options.
  2. In Excel Options dialog, click Add-Ins.
  3. At the bottom of Add-Ins, in Manage choose Disabled Items, and click Go.
  4. If you see Thomson Reuters Eikon - Microsoft Office (ThomsonReuters.CommonOffice.Shim.dll or EikonOfficeShim.dll) select it and click Enable and OK.
  5. Restart Excel. The ribbon will display the Thomson Reuters tab when you reopen Excel. If the add-in does not appear in the Disabled Items list, check if you need to manually load the add-in.

To manually load the add-in

  1. In Excel, click excel button and choose Excel Options.
  2. In Excel Options dialog, click Add-Ins.
  3. At the bottom of Add-Ins, in Manage choose COM Add-Ins, and click Go.
  4. Select Thomson Reuters Eikon - Microsoft Offic and click OK.
  5. Restart Excel. The ribbon will display the Thomson Reuters tab when you reopen Excel.

How do I install the additional apps in Excel?

Installing the apps is easy. Go to Options > Apps.

  1. In Excel, sign in to Thomson Reuters and install the additional apps from Options> Apps. You only see the apps you are entitled to use. You can get:
    • Datastream
    • Datastream Charting
    • Deal Analytics
    • Linking
    • Presentation Tools
  2. Click Enable to install the apps. You can install multiple apps at the same time.
  3. After the Enable button displays Restart Required, click OK. If you are installing multiple apps, wait till all the buttons display Restart Required.
  4. Close all instances of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  5. Re-open your Excel workbook, and you see the new features in the Thomson Reuters ribbon. The newly installed apps are ready for use.

How do I build formulas in the Excel add-in?

Get data based on complex formulas with great ease using the Formula Builder.

  1. Excel, go to the Thomson Reuters tab and sign in.
  2. Click a blank cell, and then click Build Formula.
  3. Add instruments: type the name or code and then select from the autosuggestions.
  4. In Source, choose between Real-time and Fundamental, or Time Series.
  5. Add data items: type revenue for example, then select the item you need from the autosuggestions, or choose from the categories available.
  6. Add associated parameters to refine your query.

Review your formula, set the data display options, and click Insert.

Can I get League Tables in Excel?

Just download the Deal Analytics app in Excel from Options > Apps, and work with League Tables, Deal Screener and Volume Analysis within your Excel environment.

  1. In Excel, sign in to Thomson Reuters, and then click Options > Apps.
  2. Click Enable next to Deal Analytics to install the app.
  3. After the Enable button displays Restart Required, click OK.
  4. Close all instances of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  5. Restart your Excel workbook.The Thomson Reuters ribbon displays the Deals apps with League Tables, Volume Analysis and Deal Screener.

How do I get Deals content in Excel?

Install the Deal Analytics app to monitor deal flow, identify market trends, and gain insight into your competitive positioning within the Excel environment.

  1. In Excel, sign in to Thomson Reuters, and then click Options > Apps.
  2. Click Enable next to Deal Analytics to install the app. If the app is not listed here, contact your Thomson Reuters representative for entitlements.
  3. After the Enable button displays Restart Required, click OK.
  4. Close all instances of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  5. Restart your Excel workbook. You will see Deals in the Thomson Reuters ribbon. The Deal Analytics app gives you these features:
  • Deals Screener
  • League Tables
  • Volume Analysis
  • TF Backward Compatibility
